Embark on an extended journey through a variety of Alaska’s most unique cities and natural wonders. Via boat, glass-domed railcar, and luxury motor coach you will experience everything from excursions through the breathtaking Denali National Park, to cultural tours of historic gold rush towns, and to playful encounters with sled dog pups.
Day 1: Anchorage We’ll greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Overnight Anchorage.
Day 2: Anchorage Tour Anchorage, including a stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, then travel to Portage Lake and board the mv Ptarmigan for a memorable cruise to within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. Overnight Anchorage.
Day 3: Anchorage – Denali Join us aboard the luxurious glass-domed McKinley Explorer railcar and take in the spectacular sights as we wind our way past Mt. McKinley to Denali National Park, where comfortable accommodations await you. Overnight Denali.
Day 4: Denali – Fairbanks Come with us on a morning Natural History Tour to explore our favorite parts of Denali National Park. The afternoon is reserved for an enchantingly scenic ride aboard the McKinley Explorer to Fairbanks. Overnight Fairbanks.
Day 5: Fairbanks Kick off your day with a city tour of Fairbanks and a visit to the fully restored Gold Dredge No. 8, pan for gold and enjoy a delicious miner’s lunch. Finish with a fascinating cruise on an authentic sternwheeler. Overnight Fairbanks. (L)
Day 6: Fairbanks – Beaver Creek Find yourself in the heart of wilderness, passing the Tetlin Wildlife Refuge, the Wrangell Mountains, Delta Junction and more. Lunch is included in Tok. This evening in Beaver Creek we’ll welcome you with our famed Yukon Rendezvous Dinner Show. Overnight Beaver Creek. (L, D)
Day 7: Beaver Creek – Whitehorse Enjoy the endless panoramic views as you travel by the towering Kluane Mountains and beautiful Kluane Lake. Stop in Haines Junction for lunch and a natural history presentation. Just outside of Whitehorse, experience a lively visit with the sled dogs of Uncommon Journeys. Tonight, there’s time to enjoy optional activities such as the high-kicking antics of the “Frantic Follies” vaudeville revue. Overnight Whitehorse. (L)
Day 8: Whitehorse – Skagway Get ready for a real thrill as you go over the summit of White Pass and on to Skagway. The rest of the evening is free for your own explorations. Overnight Skagway.
Day 9: Skagway – Juneau Your morning is free to explore this historical gold rush boomtown. Take a last look at Skagway on the transfer to the airport. Fly to Juneau and transfer to your hotel in Alaska’s beautiful capital. This evening you are on your own to explore. Overnight Juneau.
Day 10: Juneau We’ll take you from your hotel to the airport, where we’ll leave you with fond farewells.
