SEATTLE, Wash. – To help meet the demand for Alaska
pre- and post-cruise options out of Whittier in Prince William Sound, Gray Line of Alaska introduces a new six-day, five-night cruise connection tour that offers the area’s top destinations – Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks.
Also new is the eight-day, seven-night
Escorted Great Land Explorer. These and Gray Line’s seven-day, six-night
Denali-Kenai Explorer, which offers Alaska travelers’ most-requested sights, are among the highlights of Gray Line’s new
2008 brochure, now being mailed to travel agents nationwide.
“We’ve listened and responded to the feedback we’ve received from our guests,” says Mark Mumm, director of sales and marketing, about the two new tours and the
Denali-Kenai Explorer, which the company labels as their “Best of Alaska” tour. “These tours package the components travelers tell us they want in their tours, and the new connection to cruise ships in Whittier opens up Alaska’s interior to them.”
The
pre- and post-cruise tours from Whittier are available to all ship passengers, regardless of cruise line. After the cruise line’s transfer from Whittier to Anchorage, Gray Line will provide all land-tour components, including a day
cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park, McKinley Explorer glass-domed luxury railcars to Denali for an overnight, and also to Fairbanks for two-nights. The
Denali-Kenai Explorer reverse itinerary begins in Fairbanks; cost of the tour begins at $1,325 per person double occupancy. The tour is available May 13-Sept. 13.
The
Escorted Great Land Explorer, which blends travel by boat, luxury railcar and deluxe motor coach, includes a full-time tour guide to handle all details of the itinerary, lodging, travel and transfers. “It’s ideal for those who want the ultimate in a hassle-free tour,” Mumm says. The tour includes Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna, Seward and Anchorage, and the cost begins at $1,929 per person double occupancy. The tour departs every other Monday, May 26-Sept. 1.
The returning
Denali-Kenai Explorer remains Gray Line’s most popular tour, offering a variety of ways to see both wilderness and cultural attractions. The round-trip from Anchorage includes a Portage Glacier cruise, luxury railcars to Denali for an overnight, a Denali wildlife search, a deluxe motor coach tour to the port town of Seward, a day cruise into wildlife-rich
Kenai Fjords National Park, and back to Anchorage via the Alaska Railroad. The tour begins at $1,385 per person double occupancy and departs daily May 13-Sept. 12.
In 2008, Gray Line celebrates its 60th anniversary, making it Alaska’s longest-running tour operator. The company offers 19 package tours, including five pre-and-post-tour options, sightseeing tours, fishing excursions, wilderness tours to the Arctic, adventure tours and flightseeing.
