Regularly scheduled service provides convenient mode of transportation along with sightseeing
In 2009, cruisers disembarking or embarking a cruise ship in Whittier, Alaska, the gateway to Anchorage, will find a dedicated motor coach service connection available through Gray Line of Alaska.
Coinciding with cruise ship visits, the deluxe Gray Line of Alaska motor coaches depart from Whittier and Anchorage on Saturdays and Sundays from May 16 through September 14, and every other Wednesday from May 20 to August 26. The price is $59 per adult and $29.50 per child for the three hour trip. Departure and arrival times coincide with ship schedules and leave Whittier after disembarkation in the morning or arrive in Whittier during boarding time for those embarking on the cruise portion of their trip.
“Our deluxe motor coaches are very comfortable and provide a convenient and economical way to travel between the two towns,” said Mark Mumm, director of sales and marketing, Gray Line of Alaska. “Along the way, guests will enjoy a relaxing sightseeing tour of spectacular scenery, and our knowledgeable driver/guides narrate points of interest.”
In Whittier, coaches are found near the cruise ship dock. In Anchorage, coaches drop-off and pick-up from the Hilton Hotel, Westmark Hotel and the Egan Civic and Convention Center.
In addition to the motor coach service between Whittier and Anchorage, Gray Line of Alaska also has a fleet of deluxe motor coaches traveling between Anchorage, Talkeetna and Denali National Park from May 12 through September 21. A northbound route departs Anchorage at 7:00am, arrives Talkeetna at 9:45am and Denali at 1:00pm. The southbound departs Denali at 2:30pm and arrives in Anchorage at 8:00pm. Rates range from $51 to $96 per adult and $22.50 to $48 for a child, depending on distance.
“For independent travelers, Gray Line of Alaska’s dependable motor coach schedule is a popular way to move between destinations,” said Mumm. “The distances between places in Alaska are vast, and we have a reputation for operating safe, comfortable tours at a reasonable price.”
