| 2008 Talkeetna Day Trip - 2 hour River Rafting
|
Travel from Anchorage this morning for a motor coach journey to historic Talkeetna along the scenic George Parks Highway and Talkeetna Spur. Talkeetna is located at the junction of three rivers and the closest town to Mt. McKinley. The town itself inspired the hit television show, “Northern Exposure,” and is home to an eclectic mix of people from artists and entrepreneurs to bush pilots and, yes, the occasional moose.
Our rafting trips will take you through the remote wilderness of Denali State Park, just a stone’s throw away from Denali National Park’s wild south side, with breathtaking views of glacial moraines, boulder fields, granite canyons and sparkling hematite beaches. The 2-hour float trip explores the lower end of the Talkeetna River. It is quite common to see eagles, bears, fox, wolf, lynx, beavers, moose, as well as many species of birds and fish.
This afternoon, board the spacious and luxurious McKinley Explorer for your journey back to Anchorage.
