Arrive in Anchorage and we will transfer you from the airport to your hotel. Spend the day exploring Alaska's largest city at your leisure. Overnight Anchorage hotel.
Day2: Anchorage – Cooper Landing (100 miles)
This morning, pick up your rental car at the downtown Avis. Simply give the Avis office a call and they will pick you up for a transfer to the car lot. Then, journey south towards the charming town of Cooper Landing on the Kenai Peninsula. But first make a stop for an included one-hour cruise aboard the mv Ptarmigan to the face of Portage Glacier. Continue along the Turnagain Arm and stop for the evening at your inviting lodge overlooking the Kenai River. Overnight Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge.
Day3: Cooper Landing - Seward (47 miles)
Drive to Seward, nestled on the coast of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. Embark on a scenic glacier & wildlife cruise with the opportunity to view marine mammals. Enjoy lunch on the go on this narrated tour through the mountains and glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park. The crew will point out whales, seals, sea otters, porpoises and other colorful species of seabirds along the way. Don’t be surprised if the boat veers off course to witness the magic of a breeching humpback or killer whale. Halfway through the cruise, the boat will pull up to an active calving glacier. Be sure to dress warm and step out on the deck to hear the thunderous sound of ice crashing into the water! Back on shore, travel just a few miles to your destination for the evening. Day4: Seward – Talkeetna (240 miles)
Drive north to Talkeetna, taking your time to enjoy the amazing scenery as you head into Alaska's interior. The beauty of having your own car is you can stop as many times as you like! From Talkeetna, contine to the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, 50 miles north in Denali State Park. Explore the lodge and the surrounding trails with the hope of getting a glimps of the "Great One," Denali. Overnight Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge.
Day5: Talkeetna – Denali (105 miles)
Today, explore Denali’s south side or depart early for the drive to Denali National Park. You'll have as much time as you like to experience the majesty of Denali National Park, take in the sights of the George Parks Highway or arrive at your hotel near the park entrance to take advantage of an optional excursion or a visit to the Denali Visitor Center. Overnight Denali-area hotel.
This morning embark on a guided tour into Denali National Park for opportunities to see bears, caribou, moose, wolves and Dall sheep. The bus will pick you up at your hotel and travel into the park on the famous Denali National Park Road. Once you're back at your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to simply relax or venture out to experience even more of the Denali area. Overnight Denali-area hotel. (S)
Day7: Denali - Fairbanks (123 miles)
This morning, drive north to Fairbanks, Alaska’s Golden Heart City. Make your way to Steamboat Landing, where you will enjoy a hearty lunch on the banks of the beautiful Chena River. Spend the afternoon aboard the Riverboat Discovery, an authentic sternwheeler, exploring the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Enjoy your last night taking advantage of the extended hours of daylight. This morning, drop your car at the airport Avis office at the conclusion of your tour.
