Embark on this 6-day explorer tour of Denali National Park and Preserve, a six-million-acre wonderland of sprawling wilderness at the foot of the Alaska Range. Travel deep into the heart of the park along the highly restricted 95-mile Denali Park Road as you make your way to Kantishna, a mining district and location of Denali Backcountry Lodge. Enjoy the stunning backdrop of Denali towering over vast swatches of colorful high-alpine tundra, low-elevation taiga forests blanketing the river plains and glistening lakes. On clear or partly cloudy days, look up and witness Denali’s elusive peak before turning your attention back down to the many species of wildlife that call Denali home. The lodge, nestled along Moose Creek, is the epitome of coziness and comfort with inviting creek-side cedar cabins featuring private baths, wildly beautiful views and plush beds. During your stay, venture out on one of many activity options including morning yoga, bike rides, gold panning, historical and cultural presentations and guided hikes, and take a break to feast on fresh, wholesome meals in between. Please note that deposit requirements and cancellation policies for this tour may differ from those of Gray Line Alaska. Luggage restrictions apply on the bus to Denali Backcountry Lodge – due to limited bus space guests are only allowed one 35-pound SOFT SIDED piece of luggage. Other luggage can be stored at a nearby Denali hotel and retrieved on your arrival back to the park entrance on day 4.

Day 1: Anchorage

Overnight: Anchorage

Upon your arrival, we will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Tasty restaurants, a vibrant art scene, historical and cultural museums and a large network of lush greenbelt trails and hikes will provide ample options for you to choose from for a memorable day in Alaska’s largest city. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2: Anchorage – Denali Backcountry Lodge

Arrives At: Denali

Voyage north by deluxe motor coach to Denali National Park and Preserve. A representative of Denali Backcountry Lodge will take you on a narrated tour through low valleys and high mountains, along a ribbon of road approximately 90 miles deep into the heart of the park to Denali Backcountry Lodge. Unwind with a hot, wholesome dinner served family style and enjoy a tranquil evening browsing the lodge’s natural history library and video collection. Overnight at Denali Backcountry Lodge. (D)

Day 3: Denali Backcountry Lodge

Overnight: Denali

Start your morning right with a delicious buffet-style hot breakfast and plan your day around the variety of optional excursions that will take you out into Denali’s wilderness. Stretch your legs with a mountain biking or hiking adventure, test your luck panning for gold in nearby streams or opt for a relaxing ride onboard the lodge’s shuttle to secluded Wonder Lake for incredible photography opportunities. Trained naturalist guides onboard the shuttle will provide natural history interpretation along the way, pointing out moose, Dall sheep, grizzly and black bears, wolves and lots of other wildlife as they occur. Upon your return to the lodge, treat yourself to gourmet appetizers and mingle with other lodge guests and naturalist guides for an additional opportunity to learn about this one-of-a-kind place and relive the day’s excitement. Day 4: Denali Backcountry Lodge – Denali

Overnight: Denali

On the fourth day of your Denali adventure you will have additional opportunities to spot the park’s four-legged and winged residents. Look up and search for the regal bald eagle and keep your eyes peeled for smaller species including arctic ground squirrels, foxes and marmots. The afternoon is yours to participate in optional excursions such as whitewater rafting, a self-drive Jeep tour, jet boat ride or helicopter flightseeing tour around Mount McKinley, North America’s tallest peak. Visit the tour desk at the hotel to purchase any of these activities. Venture back to the park entrance and overnight at a Denali-area hotel. (B)

Day 5: Denali - Fairbanks

Departs From: Denali, 16:00
Arrives At: Fairbanks, 20:00

Enjoy a morning at leisure or choose an optional morning excursion. Then board a luxury railcar and travel deeper into Alaska’s interior past magnificent scenery. Transfer to your Fairbanks hotel upon arrival. Overnight Fairbanks.

Day 6: Fairbanks

We will provide transportation to the airport and bid you farewell as your Alaska vacation comes to an end!
