Day 1: Anchorage – Denali
Enjoy an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard luxurious domed railcars. Take in the wide-open scenery as you travel through the Matanuska Valley, a farming region known for mammoth vegetables; past colorful towns like Wasilla, billed as the "Home of the Iditarod;" and along scenic rivers like the Susitna, which means "Mother River". By afternoon you arrive in Denali National Park. Spend the night at a spacious Denali-area lodge. Overnight Denali-area hotel.
Day 2: Denali – Fairbanks
Take time this morning for a stop at the Denali Visitor Center where you can hike, hop a shuttle to the park’s sled dog kennel or view an award-winning film. Or for a thrilling adventure, try white-water rafting through the dramatic cliffs of the Nenana River Canyon. Later, board Alaska Railroad's Adventure Class* service for your trip north to Fairbanks. Along the way, you’ll pass through tunnels, cross over massive engineering feats like the Mears Memorial Bridge, and see a variety of natural wonders from deep gorges and lowland marshes to dark seams of lignite coal. Your journey ends upon arrival at the Fairbanks rail depot.
