Upgrade your rail experience from Fairbanks to Denali for $100 per person. The standard tour features Alaska Railroad’s Adventure Class for this rail component of the tour. When you choose the upgrade, you will travel aboard Alaska Railroad's Goldstar service instead. Adventure Class railcars do not feature a dome and meals are available for purchase. Goldstar service is aboard Alaska Railroad’s domed railcars and breakfast aboard the train is included.
With the standard option, rail travel from Denali to Talkeetna and Talkeetna to Anchorage is aboard our own luxury, glass-domed rail service (meals not included, but available for purchase) and the upgrade applies only to the portion of the trip from Fairbanks to Denali.

Day 1: Fairbanks
Start your Alaska adventure in Fairbanks, where we will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, exploring on your own or going on an optional tour to the Alaska Salmon Bake and the Golden Palace Theater. At the Salmon Bake, you will enjoy generous portions of king salmon grilled over an alder wood fire before attending a live musical show featuring a polished, professional cast. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 2: Fairbanks
Learn more about the rich gold rush history of Fairbanks on a visit to Gold Dredge 8, where you will pan for gold and learn about modern-day gold mining. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to view the Trans-Alaska Pipeline up close and attend a presentation about its construction and operation. Your adventure continues after a motor coach ride at Steamboat Landing, where you will enjoy a hearty lunch on the banks of the beautiful Chena River. Spend the afternoon aboard the Riverboat Discovery, an authentic sternwheeler, exploring the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Visit an authentic Chena Indian village and watch a bush floatplane take off alongside the boat. Overnight in Fairbanks.(L)
Day 3: Fairbanks – Denali
Step aboard Alaska Railroad's Adventure Class rail service and travel south along the Alaska Railroad route to Denali National Park and Preserve. Embark on the Tundra Wilderness Tour, which will take you along the only ribbon of road in the six million acres of wilderness that make up the park. As you travel, watch for the Denali “Big Five” – grizzly bears, moose, caribou, wolves and Dall sheep, along with smaller animals that include pika, weasels, Arctic ground squirrels and beavers. Later, enjoy an optional dinner theater excursion for the perfect end to the day. Overnight at a Denali-area hotel. (B, S)
Day 4: Denali – Anchorage
Spend your last day in Denali at your leisure, or choose from optional excursions that include a flightseeing tour and glacier landing. Later, hop back aboard the railcar and begin your journey south towards Anchorage, enjoying stunning views and crossing over the jaw-dropping Hurricane Gulch Bridge which rises 296 feet above Hurricane Creek. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 5: Anchorage – Whittier – Anchorage
Enjoy a motor coach ride to the port of Whittier where you will travel through North America’s longest shared rail-vehicle tunnel – through a mountain! From Whittier, embark on a 5-hour cruise excursion into the gorgeous Prince William Sound. Travel through glacier-carved fjords and visit the tidewater glaciers of Barry Arm. Bring along binoculars to watch for whales, sea lions, sea otters, seabirds and black bears wandering along the narrow beaches. Enjoy a hot lunch on board before returning to Anchorage to overnight.(L)
Day 6: Anchorage
Spend the morning exploring more of Anchorage’s largest city. Take a stroll along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail that offers majestic views of Cook Inlet and surrounding mountains, or head downtown for breakfast at a local eatery. Later, transfer to the airport where your Alaska adventure comes to an end.
