Blue Fairbanks / Denali / Anchorage Rail Tour - 71C Itinerary

Journey between the mountains of the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges on an incomparable sightseeing experience. This tour is the best choice for the traveler short on time. Departing from Fairbanks, you'll spend one night in the Denali National Park area before ending your vacation in Anchorage. Scenic travel along the historic Alaska Railroad route provides the opportunity to see mountains, valleys, rivers and any wildlife that may wander by.

  • Rail and hotel transfers in Denali National Park
  • Travel aboard Alaska Railroad's Adventure Class service (picture window) from Fairbanks to Denali (upgrade available)
  • Travel on the Alaska Railroad route aboard our own luxury, glass-domed railcar from Denali to Anchorage

Upgrade your rail experience from Fairbanks to Denali for $100 per person. The standard tour features Alaska Railroad’s Adventure Class for this rail component of the tour. When you choose the upgrade, you will travel aboard Alaska Railroad's GoldStar service instead.  Adventure Class railcars do not feature a dome and meals are available for purchase.  GoldStar service is aboard Alaska Railroad’s domed railcars and breakfast aboard the train is included.  

With the standard option, rail travel from Denali to Anchorage is aboard our own luxury, glass-domed rail service (meals not included, but available for purchase) and the upgrade applies only to the portion of the trip from Fairbanks to Denali.


Unless noted, tour is not escorted and does not include meals, sightseeing or home city air.
Anchorage and Fairbanks accommodations and travel to and from the Anchorage and Fairbanks railroad depot are not included.

Day 1:  Fairbanks – Denali

Departs From: Fairbanks, 8:15 AM (Train Departs Fairbanks Depot)
Arrives At: Denali, 12:10 PM (Train Arrives Denali Depot)

Board your train at the Fairbanks depot. Pass by the University of Alaska and the gold mining town of Ester before crossing the Mears Memorial Bridge to the town of Nenana, site of the famed Nenana Ice Classic. By mid-day, arrive at Denali National Park where you’ll transfer to your comfortable accommodations. Here, you can choose from a wide range of optional activities like river rafting or a jet boat safari. For the perfect end to your day, check out Music of Denali Dinner Theater, complete with delicious BBQ dinner and entertaining show. Overnight Denali-area hotel.

Day 2: Denali – Anchorage

Departs From: Denali, 9:15 AM (Train Departs Denali Depot)
Arrives At: Anchorage, 5:15 PM (Train Arrives Anchorage Depot)

Reboard the train and journey between the mountains of the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges on an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard a luxury railcar. Take in the forests, mountains, rivers and valleys and cross the amazing engineering feat that appears at Hurricane Gulch where the train slows to 5 miles per hour to cross the trestle built over the creek 296 feet below—it’s a special thrill from out on the open-air viewing platform! Your vacation ends at the Anchorage railroad depot.
