Prices include a compact car. During checkout you will have the ability to upgrade to a full-size car or a small SUV for an additional charge.
Unless noted, tour is not escorted and does not include meals, sightseeing or home city air.
We'll pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your accommodations for the night. Spend the day exploring Alaska's largest city at your leisure. Overnight Anchorage hotel.
Day2: Anchorage – Cooper Landing (100 miles)
Pick up your rental car from Avis in downtown Anchorage. Head south along the scenic Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm. On the way stop at Portage Lake for an hour-long cruise to the face Portage Glacier aboard the mv Ptarmigan. Contine to the Kenai Peninsula and Cooper Landing for your overnight destination at the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge. Continue to explore or just relax at the lodge, overlooking the Kenai River.
Day3: Cooper Landing
The day is yours to explore the Cooper Landing area and other communities of the Kenai Peninsula in your rental car. Visit the onsite Tour Desk to book an optional excursion such as fishing or rafting. Overnight Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge.
Day4: Cooper Landing - Seward (47 miles)
Drive to Seward, nestled on the coast of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. Embark on a scenic glacier & wildlife cruise with the opportunity to view marine mammals. Enjoy lunch on the go on this narrated tour through the mountains and glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park. The crew will point out whales, seals, sea otters, porpoises and other colorful species of seabirds along the way. Don’t be surprised if the boat veers off course to witness the magic of a breeching humpback or killer whale. Halfway through the cruise, the boat will pull up to an active calving glacier. Be sure to dress warm and step out on the deck to hear the thunderous sound of ice crashing into the water! Back on shore, travel just a few miles to your destination for the evening. Day5: Seward – Talkeetna (240 miles)
Drive north to Talkeetna, taking your time to enjoy the amazing scenery as you head into Alaska's interior. The beauty of having your own car is you can stop as many times as you like! From Talkeetna, contine to the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, 50 miles north in Denali State Park. Explore the lodge and the surrounding trails with the hope of getting a glimps of the "Great One," Denali. Overnight Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge.
Day6: Talkeetna – Denali (105 miles)
Today, explore Denali’s south side or depart early for the drive to Denali National Park. You'll have as much time as you like to experience the majesty of Denali National Park, take in the sights of the George Parks Highway or arrive at your hotel near the park entrance to take advantage of an optional excursion or a visit to the Denali Visitor Center. Overnight Denali-area hotel.
This morning embark on a guided tour into Denali National Park for opportunities to see bears, caribou, moose, wolves and Dall sheep. The bus will pick you up at your hotel and travel into the park on the famous Denali National Park Road. Once you're back at your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to simply relax or venture out to experience even more of the Denali area. Overnight Denali-area hotel. (S)
Day8: Denali - Anchorage (238 miles)
Drive from Denali to Anchorage at your own pace with plenty of time for photo stops. Once in Anchorage, return your rental car at the downtown Avis office and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy one last overnight in Anchorage before the conclusion of your tour. Overnight Anchorage hotel.
We’ll transfer you to the airport at the end of your tour.
